Dawid Planeta is a 29 years old Polish artist who creates artworks to fight his depression. He turned his misfortune into artworks and inspiring thousands. He depicts them through a series named ‘Mini People In The Jungle’. The series presents various giant animals with glittering eyes and a little boy is bravely facing the scary creatures in a mysterious jungle. The animals refer to his own thoughts and the jungle is the mysterious world of your emotions.
“The story tells about the jungle. But it’s not a regular jungle, it’s the mysterious world of your emotions. When you are young, you visit the jungle every day. You live in a world of emotions- you know every tree, every animal, you feel safe. When you grow older, something happens. You learn to hide your emotions. You learn to do what you suppose to do. You don’t visit the jungle anymore. Not as often as you did.”
Planeta inspires thousands of people with his work and helps them see depression in a different light, contrary to how depression is usually perceived. “Depression – it’s not easy to deal with, but when you try, you can stop thinking about it as a weakness and turn it into something brilliant” said Planeta. “Things I’m trying to depict are dark, mysterious and frightening, but if you look closely, you will find excitement, passion, and joy. Just open your mind and see.”.
